Weekend of Events

This weekend was pretty filled with events…from a birthday party to a football game! I couldn’t ask for anything better than to snap away at the shutter.
Charity’s wonderful birthday was held at a country club; it was a black & white party, meaning no colors allowed. The only person wearing a color was, of course, the birthday girl: dressed in a perfect bright blue dress. Here are some of the lovely pictures from her party!

In addition to the birthday party Saturday night, I also attended my very first professional football game. It’s about time! I went with 3 other people and it was so much fun, despite the fact that we missed the first half. We started the day off with breakfast/lunch, or brunch, at The Flying Biscuit! The biscuits are delicious, with your choice of wheat or white. I like them both. Afterwards, we headed toward the game…there were many obstacles. Trying to find parking for less than $25 was nearly impossible, but we did it! We parked about a mile away and began the trek to finally see the Falcons vs. the Broncos! The Falcons lost, by 4 points. Nonetheless, it was a great way to spend a Sunday & we even finished it off with some smoothies. :)

Autumn is beauty-fall!

Autumn is beauty-fall…get it? haha. At least I can make myself laugh.
Yesterday was a gorgeous fall day. About 60 degrees (at a high) during the day, falling to below freezing at night.
It was wonderful…not to mention, a great temperature for taking pictures.
The new lens is so creative and I love the pictures it produces; eventhough, I’m pretty sure it’s the person behind the camera creating the pictures!
:)

Here are some more autumn photos. You can never have enough!

A Whole New Lens!

I have been playing with a new lens ALL day today!
It is a NIKKOR lens (Nikon’s brand is called NIKKOR): 50mm with a maximum aperature of 1.8!
What on earth does that mean? Well…a larger aperature (by larger, I mean the numbers actually get smaller. It can be quite confusing) allows for a strong depth of field.
Depth of field, you ask? Well, that (in easy terms), is the fuzzy background achieved in pictures. For example, when you see “bokeh” (meaning “blury” in Japanese~I wrote about bokeh earlier in this blog), you know you have a strong depth of field!
…and for visual examples, just take a look at the new pictures!

This one looks like it might be out of focus, but if you look carefully the focal points are actually the tips of the grass. :)

Notice the “fuzzy” background…now that’s a nice depth of field!

The focus here is on Buddy’s eyes….not the nose (that’s why it’s fuzzy)!

This new lens is amazing! Stay tuned for many more photos….
Happy Thursday!
